Terms of Use and Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of RemodelCalcs.com (“RemodelCalcs”, “we”, “us”). By using the site, you agree to them and to the privacy policy further down this page. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

We can change these terms, or anything else on the site, at any time and without notice. The version posted here is the one that applies, so check back now and then. Any rights we don’t spell out here, we keep under U.S. law.

Your privacy

We take privacy seriously. The Privacy Policy below explains what we collect about you and what we do with it.

Secure pages and signed paperwork

Pages that ask for your details use an encrypted (SSL) connection, and we take reasonable steps to protect what you send us. Please do your part too, especially on a shared or public computer.

A request you make here may lead to paperwork you sign later, for example a contract with an installer. If that signed document and something on this site say different things, the signed document wins.

Who owns the content

The text, calculators, images, video and data on RemodelCalcs belong to us or to the people who license them to us. Copyright, trademark and trade secret law protect them. You’re welcome to use the site to plan your own project. You can’t copy, republish, resell or reverse engineer our content, or build something new from it, without our written permission. Don’t share your account or our data with anyone else. If you misuse our content, we’ll enforce our rights.

How you may use the site

Don’t use RemodelCalcs to break the law or to help someone else break it. Don’t use our content to compete with us, and don’t resell it unless we’ve agreed in writing.

Scrapers, bots, spiders and other automated tools may not access, copy or monitor the site or its data without our written OK. Copying it by hand at scale counts too.

Please don’t try to reach parts of the site we haven’t published or linked to. Don’t probe our security, break into our servers or networks, or grab content before we release it. Don’t pretend to be someone else or claim a tie to a person or company that isn’t real. And don’t do anything that disrupts the site or the people using it.

Calls and texts (TCPA consent)

We follow the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the FCC rules under it. When you submit your details on this site, you accept these terms and our privacy policy. You also give RemodelCalcs and our partners permission to call or text the phone number you entered. Those calls and texts may use automated dialing technology. This applies even if your number is on a state, federal or company Do Not Call list. You don’t have to agree to this in order to buy anything.

Copyright complaints (DMCA)

If you think something on our site infringes your copyright, you can send a notice to our designated agent under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998. Reach the agent through our contact page. Your notice needs:

  1. your physical or electronic signature, or the signature of someone allowed to act for the copyright owner;
  2. the work you believe was copied;
  3. where on our site the material sits;
  4. a way to reach you, such as your address, phone number and email;
  5. a statement that you believe in good faith the owner, its agent or the law hasn’t authorized the use;
  6. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you may act for the owner.

If we took down your material because of a notice, you can file a counter-notice under DMCA section 512(g)(2) and (3). Send it to the same agent. It should include:

  1. the URL or other details of the material we removed or blocked;
  2. your name, address, phone number and email, a statement that you agree to the jurisdiction of the federal district court where you live (or San Francisco County, California, if you live outside the U.S.), and a statement that you’ll accept service of process from whoever sent the original notice, or from their agent;
  3. a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith the material came down by mistake or because it was misidentified;
  4. your physical or electronic signature.

Once we get a valid counter-notice, we may put the material back up. If you knowingly misstate that your material doesn’t infringe, you can be made to pay damages, including legal costs and attorneys’ fees.

Use at your own risk

You use RemodelCalcs at your own risk. Neither we nor anyone who helps build or run the site is liable for losses that come from visiting it, using it, or downloading anything from it. That covers direct, indirect, incidental, consequential and punitive damages, plus costs and attorneys’ fees. It also covers viruses, bugs, broken hardware or software, slow or failed transmissions, outages, and problems with your internet provider.

No promise of accuracy

Our cost estimates come from the data we have, and we work hard to keep them right. Still, we can’t promise they’re accurate, complete or current, and real prices in your area may differ. EVERYTHING ON THIS SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”. WE MAKE NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ANY IMPLIED PROMISE THAT THE SITE IS MERCHANTABLE, FIT FOR A PARTICULAR USE OR NON-INFRINGING, AND ANY WARRANTY OF TITLE.

Limits on our liability

WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, LOST BUSINESS OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION. WE ARE ALSO NOT LIABLE FOR SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. THAT HOLDS EVEN IF SOMEONE WARNED US THEY COULD HAPPEN. WHATEVER THE CLAIM, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU OR ANYONE ELSE WILL NEVER BE MORE THAN THE FEES YOU ACTUALLY PAID US.

WE DON’T GUARANTEE WORK DONE BY ANY CONTRACTOR OR OTHER COMPANY WE CONNECT YOU WITH. WE AREN’T LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE, LOSS OR JUDGMENT THEY CAUSE. YOU GIVE UP ANY SUCH CLAIM AGAINST REMODELCALCS AND OUR AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AGENTS AND EMPLOYEES.

Indemnity

Sometimes a third party or a regulator brings a claim against RemodelCalcs, our affiliates, or our officers, directors, agents or employees. If that claim comes from you breaking these terms, or from something you sent or posted here, you agree to cover the damages, losses, judgments and liabilities that follow. That includes reasonable attorneys’ fees.

What you send us

Don’t post or send anything to RemodelCalcs that’s obscene, pornographic, profane, defamatory, threatening or otherwise unlawful. Don’t send anything that could lead to criminal charges or a civil claim. We may review or monitor what comes through the site, but we take no responsibility for what other people submit. That includes claims of defamation, libel, slander or misrepresentation.

Links to other sites

We link to other websites. A link doesn’t mean we approve of that site, sponsor it or are tied to it, unless we say so. We haven’t reviewed every site we link to and we aren’t responsible for what’s on them. Clicking through is your call and your risk.

Governing law

Anyone can read RemodelCalcs, but we built it for people in the United States, and U.S. law governs your use of it. If you visit from another country, it’s up to you to follow your local laws. We don’t claim the site is right for use outside the U.S.

Wyoming law governs any dispute about these terms or your use of the site, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You agree that only the state and federal courts in Wyoming can hear such a dispute, and you accept their jurisdiction.

The rest of the fine print

These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the site. They replace anything said or written before. If we don’t enforce a right right away, or only enforce part of it, we haven’t given it up. A waiver or change only counts if it’s in writing and signed by someone authorized to act for RemodelCalcs. If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.

Privacy Policy

This policy covers the personal information RemodelCalcs collects, plus anything outside companies collect through our site. It explains how we use that information, who we share it with, the choices you have, how we protect it, and how to fix mistakes. Questions? Reach us through our contact page.

The short version

RemodelCalcs is a free cost-estimating site. Referrals pay for it. When you ask for quotes, we pass your name, contact details and project details to contractors, home-service companies and lead companies that can help. We may sell that information to them, and they may contact you. The rest of this policy fills in the details.

What we collect and why

The information collected on RemodelCalcs belongs to us. But what you type into our forms gets shared so we can help you. We may share it with, or sell it to, one or more contractors or other service providers. Companies we hire to check and qualify requests may see it too. We may also use it ourselves to show you other offers that fit your project.

Landing pages. Some visitors come to us from our widgets, banner ads, text ads or other ads on other sites. They may land on a sign-up page. That page may collect your details to pass on to a qualified installer or a home-service lead company. It may also offer a free estimate in return for your email address. Filling it in is always your choice.

Signing up. Some features ask you to register first. We’ll ask for contact details like your name and email, and some facts about your home and energy use. We may use them to reach you by email, mail or phone about services you showed interest in. We may also give them to contractors, other service providers and lead companies that can help with your request.

Calls and emails from other companies. Once we pass your details to one of those companies, it may contact you directly by email, mail or phone. It may talk to you about your request, or about its own products. See “Your choices” below to opt out.

Your profile. We use cookies and log files to build a profile of the kinds of projects you’re interested in. We tie that profile to your personal information so we can run the quote service, improve the site for you, and send you RemodelCalcs offers that fit. We may share it with service providers who help us improve what we offer.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file your browser keeps on your device. We use session cookies, which go away when you close your browser, and persistent cookies, which stay on your device for longer. Our cookies let you pick up where you left off, such as the ZIP code you set and what you entered in a calculator, even if you never signed up. On their own, they don’t tell us who you are.

If you delete your cookies and you haven’t registered, you may lose those saved settings. Some programs wipe cookies on a schedule. We don’t recommend them and can’t help with problems they cause.

Log files

Like most websites, our servers keep logs. They record your IP address, browser, operating system and internet provider, the pages you came from and went to, the date and time, and how many clicks you made. We use them to spot trends, run the site, see how visitors move through it as a group, and learn about our audience in general. We don’t connect this log data to your personal information.

Emails from us

We may email you about things happening on the site. Members sometimes get product news, deals or a newsletter, and you can say no to those when you sign up. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

Once in a while we may have to send a plain service notice, for example when the site is down for maintenance. Those aren’t ads, and you can’t opt out of them, but you can close your account. When you contact support, we reply by email or phone, whichever you prefer.

When the law requires it

We may disclose personal information if we believe in good faith that the law requires it. Examples are a court order, a subpoena or other legal process served on us.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell or hand out information about our visitors except as this policy describes. We share what you give us with contractors, service providers and lead companies so they can answer your request. Those companies may use it for their own purposes, commercial ones included, under their own privacy policies. They may also pass it on to others as part of their business. To opt out of that, contact them directly. Their own policies set the terms.

We may also disclose information about you to prevent physical harm or financial loss, for an investigation into suspected illegal activity, or to protect RemodelCalcs or another person.

If RemodelCalcs merges with another company, gets bought, or sells part of its business, your personal information will usually go to the new owner along with the other assets.

Analytics and tracking

We use outside analytics companies to understand how people use the site. We don’t give them your personal information. They may still set their own cookies, pixels and similar tools on your device and collect data about how you use the site.

Some links send you through another company’s server before you reach the final page. That company may also drop its own cookies or pixels, for example to show you ads later, and collect usage data along the way.

Your choices

When we ask for your information, you can opt out of us using it for things that aren’t directly tied to the site. To stop our marketing emails, click the unsubscribe link in any of them.

Ask us, and we’ll tell you which companies got your contact details from us and what kinds of information we shared. To stop future sharing, or further contact from us, email feedback@remodelcalcs.com.

Keep in mind your details may reach a contractor the moment you hit submit. Anything already shared has to be stopped with each company directly, or when it reaches out to you. We’ll do our best to help. This is free, though the law only requires us to answer one such request a year.

If one of our partners sends you a marketing email, use the unsubscribe link in it. To stop hearing from that company altogether, contact it directly.

California privacy rights

California residents have extra rights under state law. Under the Shine the Light law (Civil Code section 1798.83), you can ask once a year which third parties got your personal information for their own direct marketing. The steps above cover that request.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you can ask what personal information we hold about you. You can ask us to correct it or delete it, and you can tell us not to sell or share it. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights. Email feedback@remodelcalcs.com and put “California request” in the subject line. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on it.

Other sites

Our pages link to other websites, and we aren’t responsible for how they handle privacy. When you leave RemodelCalcs, read the privacy policy of any site that asks for your personal information. This policy only covers what our site collects.

Surveys, contests and referrals

Now and then we run a survey or a contest. Taking part is up to you. We usually ask for contact details, such as your name and mailing address, plus things like your ZIP code. We use contact details to tell winners they won and to send prizes, and we may share them with the sponsor for that. Anonymous survey answers help us improve the site. Apart from that, we don’t share personal information from surveys with outside companies.

If you use a tell-a-friend feature, we ask for your friend’s name and email and send them an invitation to visit. We keep that only to send the email and to see how well referrals work. Your friend can unsubscribe through the link in any email we send.

Fixing or deleting your information

If your ZIP code, phone, email or mailing address changes, or you don’t want our service anymore, we’ll update, correct or delete your details or close your account. Reply to one of our emails, or write to info@remodelcalcs.com.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll post the update on this page, on the home page and anywhere else that makes sense. That way you’ll always know what we collect, how we use it and when we share it. Your information is handled under the policy that was in place when we collected it. For bigger changes, we may also email users who agreed to hear from us.
